If you have the time, don’t skip Bryce Canyon National Park to see the one-of-a-kind rock formations, located just two hours northeast of Zion and worth the drive.

Joshua Tree, CA

Just an hour outside Palm Springs, California, and four hours from Las Vegas, Joshua Tree National Park is famed for its unique desert landscape. Make sure you take some time to see the park’s namesake, the Joshua Trees, although they are a type of Yucca (not a tree), but we won’t get into semantics. Popular activities include rock climbing and hiking. Sunrise at Cholla Cactus Garden is a must, and as it is one of the few places in California without light pollution, the stargazing is phenomenal.

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Bryce Canyon National Park is a bucket-list item for many for good reason, and it’s the perfect long-weekend destination, located four hours from Las Vegas. The park is known for its unique spire-shaped rock formations, also known as hoodoos, and its spectacular stargazing opportunities. Visitors can hike down into the amphitheater for close-up views, or they can even ride a horse down if that is more their speed.

Mojave National Preserve, California

The Mojave Desert is home to an incredibly diverse network of ecological habitats. Visitors can explore lava tubes, hike to the top of the Kelso Dunes, go horseback riding, and encounter unique wildlife, such as the iconic Desert Tortoise. The Mojave National Preserve is a two- to three-hour drive from your pickup location, making it the perfect weekend getaway.

Valley of Fire State Park

Located in the Mojave Desert, Valley of Fire State Park is home to 46,000 acres of red Aztec sandstone and is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike, and for good reason. Valley of Fire gets its name from the bright red sandstone that appears ablaze under the hot desert sun. How much does it cost to rent a camper in Nevada?

The average cost for camper vans in Nevada is $110-180. You’ll also want to budget for other expenses like mileage fees and filling your camper up with gas. Typical mileage expenses for camper vans are $0.30-0.40 cents per mile you drive. Gas prices in Nevada are also usually higher than in other states, where they usually rank in the top 10 of the most expensive states to fill up your gas tank. As with other travel expenses, prices for campers can vary depending on the time of year and availability. Nevada gets the most tourists between March and May due to mild temperatures and it is a popular vacation time with spring break, so you’re more likely to see higher camper prices during that time.

How old do you have to be to rent a camper in Nevada?

You’ll need to be at least 21 years old to rent a camper in Nevada. Some companies may also have a higher age minimum where drivers need to be at least 25, so check with individual rental company requirements before reserving your vehicle. The reasoning behind higher age minimums is insurance costs and the liability expenses associated with renting camper vans. Younger drivers under the age of 21 have much higher insurance premiums since they’re inexperienced and may tend to take more risks while driving. So, it would be unprofitable for companies to rent to young drivers. Even if a company allows drivers under 25, make sure you check for any associated expenses with renting the camper. For instance, some companies may add extra security fees or void insurance policies if drivers don’t meet a certain age threshold.
