The total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017, had what seemed like all of North America putting on their eclipse glasses and gazing up at the skies in unison. Many of our renters planned trips around camping out in the path of totality. We loved seeing your photos and videos and hearing your stories about your experiences. We’ve included just a few of them below.

My wife and I and our 3 sons live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We did a 5-week trip through the national parks. We went from San Francisco to LA, Sequoia, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Joshua Tree, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Dinosaur, Grand Teton and Yellowstone. The kids were sleeping in the van and my wife and I slept in the roof sleeper. Our last week was spent on traveling to and spending time in Yosemite.

Watching the eclipse was an amazing experience. We met a lot of people who were also on their way to see it. My wife had booked an affordable spot on special eclipse camping in Idaho near St Anthony. There was another escape van with Dutch people which led the camping owner to think that all people from The Netherlands like to drive funny looking cars ?

We rented Starfox in Las Vegas and drove up to Idaho for the eclipse. It was amazing! Never seen anything like this. And as you can see, we thought about safety as well!

Here’s one of my favorite shots of the field where we took our Escape Campervan in the Ochoco National Forest, Oregon, to catch the total solar eclipse.

We had an amazing two weeks, thanks to Escape. We rented Floyd in San Francisco. He was an excellent choice for us, with his bright colors. We spent two weeks on the road and found the van well set up to make it a great experience.

The cornerstone of the trip was, of course, the eclipse. We started in Yosemite, drove up to Lassen, and watched the eclipse from the Cove Palisades State Park just outside of Madras, Oregon. The return trip took us to the coast, driving down to Jedediah Smith Redwood Forest to a beachfront private campground and finally Van Damme State Park. We couldn’t imagine a better way to do that trip than in our Escape campervan! Thank you so much for making our eclipse trip a first class once-in-a-lifetime experience!

We love seeing photos from your trips! Add yours to the Escape community on Instagram with #escapecampervans
