Best Way To Get To Route 66 From Chicago

From the Chicago Escape campervan rental location, it does not take long to reach Route 66.  Head to E.Adams Street and Michigan Ave, where the “Route 66 Begins” sign is located, and then head west.  Route 66 has changed over time, but you can drive most of the original route with careful planning.  

There is no entrance fee to Route 66; however, you may encounter tolls during your road trip.  Getting an E-ZPass can help alleviate the need to stop or carry cash to pay for toll fees.

For out-of-the-way campsites, make your way over to the Springfield KOA in Missouri or the Homolovi Ruins in Arizona. Or try dispersed camping near Route 66 in your campervan. Just know, dispersed camping means no bathrooms or fire pits, so use the Leave No Trace principles.
