Pick up and drop off we’re seamless. The free items are a nice touch. We really didn’t need to rent a picnic table, all of our campsites had one.It was much easier for us to navigate a 19 foot vehicle than we thought. However, you may want to check into local gas prices in the area you will be visiting. I still think we won out over hotels and rental car. Plus, we tried it!Definitely try to pack your stuff in “cubes” in your bag. The shuffling of the bags if you want to leave the beds made up was the most unpleasant element of the trip.
My sister and I take a long road trip (car camping) every year and this was our first experience renting a campervan for it and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. I had done a ton of research and shopping around and Escape had the most affordable packages and convenient pickup locations, so we decided to go with them.To be honest, when we first arrived to pickup the van I was a little concerned by the age and mileage on the van, but DO NOT LET THAT DETER YOU. Crayola (our van) was trusty, comfortable, road-worthy and dependable. The bed was comfortable (I would suggest maybe buying/bringing a mattress topper to cover the seams, after two weeks those did bother us a bit, but when you are used to sleeping on a tent pad floor, it can only get better haha, so we were very happy with the bed). The kitchen outfit was simple but exactly what you need, we rented the kitchen kit and the bedding kit and found both satisfactory.Javier from the SLC location was very friendly, super helpful and even gave us local recommendations when we got back to town. He made sure I understood how all the features worked, and offered to show me how to assemble the bed before I drove off. He also assured me our little Crayola would make it alllll the way up to Glacier NP and back… and she sure did (picture below of her on Going-to-the-Sun Road). We travelled 2400+ miles and she didn’t have any issues. We will DEFINITELY be renting from Escape again. 10/10 recommend, amazing experience. Miss you already Cray Cray. Thanks again Escape, until next time…
Wonderful adventure. We flew into Salt Lake City and rented a camper-van for two weeks: we visited Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, Mount Rainier and Olympic. We dropped the van at Seattle (a 2870-mile road trip !).The ride was smooth, the bed was comfortable! The kitchen in the back was very convenient too.I highly recommend these vans to hit the road and visit national parks.
We flew into Salt Lake City and rented a camper-van from escape for a week! The whole experience was magical! We loved everything about our van! Her name was flower girl! The ride was smooth, the bed was soft and very comfortable! The kitchen amenities in the back were very helpful as we were camping in the middle of nowhere! The gentleman who helped us when we arrived and dropped off was amazing! Super nice and very helpful! Five stars from us and more… I would definitely recommend escape for your next road trip!!
Easy pick up and drop off. People were great to work with and flexible. Van ran wonderful and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend getting the insurance. We did and it came in handy as the windshield cracked due to heat and we would have had to cover it. The insurance covered it. You never know and it was great piece of mind. We were a little disappointed on the kitchen and bedding kits. No coffee maker which we were told was included and the pillows were horrible. Very flat and uncomfortable. This is the only reason we rated this experience with 4 stars.
We had an incredible 2 week vacation in the Northern Rockies with an Escape Campervan we rented from the Salt Lake City location. The van was as powerful and reliable as it was colorful. Most importantly, the design and outfitting of the van was perfect for our needs. We (an active 70+ year old couple) rented the Big Sur model which has the f350 engine and MUCH more storage capacity. This was a wise decision, as inside storage on rainy nights would have been a problem at campsites without bear boxes. Checkin and checkout in SLCwas efficient and customer service and communication was excellent. One suggestion (ifpossible) is to develop some way to have a “screenwindow” on hot or buggy days. Overall experience was EXCELLENT and we will use Escape Camper Vans again in the future

How much does it cost to rent a camper in Utah?
On average, renting a camper in Utah costs between $75 and $150 per day. Camper vans closer to $75 are more compact and great for traveling with fewer than five people. Those that are closer to $150 will be roomier when you’re traveling with up to five people and may have some extra premium features. You should also budget for gas expenses and mileage fees. Most campers have mileage fees of $0.30-0.40 cents per mile you drive. Costs to rent a camper may also vary depending on demand and the time of year. The summer is the most popular tourist time in Utah to camp and explore its great national parks, so it’s likely daily rental prices may increase during that time.
How old do you have to be to rent a camper in Utah?
You need to be at least 21 to rent a camper in Utah and hold a standard driver’s license. Some companies also have higher age minimums for RV and camper rentals that go up to 25 years old. So, make sure you check with individual company policies before planning your camping trip. These age minimums are set due to liability associated with renting vehicles and insurance premiums. Drivers who are under 21 will have much higher insurance premiums since they are seen as inexperienced and could have a higher tendency to take risks while driving. Those higher premiums make it much less profitable for companies to rent to young drivers.
