In my previous articles, I have discussed some unique trip options in order to demonstrate the versatility of Escape Camper Vans. However, in this article, I will discuss the low-hanging fruit, the tried-and-true National Park trip. At the end of the day, a popular destination is popular for a reason.
The National Park trips discussed below are so well known because they offer some of the most beautiful scenery in the entire Country. A long-drawn-out circuitous trip may not be for everyone; therefore, I have put together a short route and a long route. Both provide phenomenal, one-of-a-kind experiences for your next Campervan trip.
Majestic Mountain Loop: Suggested Time 3 Days:
The Majestic Mountain Loop provides a unique opportunity to visit three of California’s most iconic National Parks (Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite) over the course of a long weekend. With around five hours of total driving time required, it also offers an excellent return on your travel to destination ratio. campers can pick up a Campervan in Los Angeles and proceed down Interstate 5. All three parks can be conveniently accessed with minimal deviations from the highway though more scenic routes are available if you don’t mind the added driving time.
While this road trip can be comfortably completed in three days, one day at each park, more time can always be added as it is unlikely you will run out of things to do. Sequoia National Park boasts impressive, forested hiking trails in the Summer and incredible snowshoe experiences in the winter for the more adventurous campers. It is also home to the largest tree in the world, The General Sherman Tree.
Next, campers will proceed to Kings Canyon. Despite its proximity to Sequoia, the deep canyons and looming mountains of Kings Canyon provides a stark contrast to the greenery of Sequoia National Park. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore beautiful mountain trails and trout-filled lakes. The last stop on the list hardly needs an introduction. Yosemite National Park is a world-renowned destination. campers will be confronted with breathtaking views of waterfalls, glaciers, and vast areas of idyllic wilderness.
With its nearly 1,200 miles of natural beauty, Yosemite could be the destination of a much longer trip than the subject of this article. We encourage campers to spend any extra or remaining time they might have in Yosemite as it is truly worth seeing.
Grand Circle Tour: Suggested Time 10-14 Days:
For campers that have some PTO saved up, the Grand Circle provides an incredible opportunity to explore six different National Parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, and Grand Canyon) throughout the State of Utah. At 1,500 miles this trip requires a great deal of time and driving. Fortunately, Escape Campervan has recently opened a new depot in Salt Lake City. This means that campers will now have the advantage of taking their hotel with them, greatly increasing the practicality and approachability of this trip. campers who make the necessary time commitment will be rewarded with a vast and diverse array of destinations.
Each Park possesses entirely unique features and provides a unique experience. Zion, the first National Park in Utah, hosts a singular array of plants and animals that cannot be found anywhere else in the World.
Zion also provides amazing views of sandstone cliffs that appear in a dazzling array of colors including cream, pink, and red. Bryce Canyon National Park is home to the world’s largest array of Hoodoos (irregular rock columns). Capitol Reef National Park provides onlookers the unique opportunity to observe the “Water Pocket” an immense geological wrinkle that extends for almost 100 miles. True to its name, Arches National Park is full of over 2,000 natural rock arches that seem to defy belief. Canyonlands provide an opportunity to explore distinct canyon formations carved out by the Colorado River.
Finally, Grand Canyon National Park, located in Northern Arizona, is, as expected, quite grand and worthy of a stop. Finally, Monument Valley, aside from serving as the set for the hit drama “Westworld,” possesses stunning sandstone heights and is one of the most photographed locations in the world.
