It's a decent van for the price. The fridge stopped working a couple of days into the trip. Escape support was extremely nice and helpful.

We had a great experience with our Escape Campervan rental! From pickup (shout-out to Christine at the Milpitas CA location for the best customer service and sending us off on our adventure with a smile on our faces!) to drop off 6 days later, we we so happy with the van. It was easy to set up for sleeping including the pop-up top, great little kitchen set up for preparing meals, and was way less intimidating to drive than we expected (thank you, back up camera).

This office was easy to reach via public transport. You have to walk the last part, but that is just 1 street. The office is not really an office and felt a bit weird, almost sketchy. But everything was arranged, and the camper was ready to go.Camper was fine, not to clean, but did that ourselves with baby wipes. It has everything you need. We were just two people and kept the bed as a bed the whole way. This worked fine for us.When returning the van at another location, we told them we had some trouble with the door. They told us the pickup location should have given more information about the campervan. Because the door had a safety magenism, for example.

The proprietor was accommodating, informed and professional!The camper was in fact 20" or under for our campsites. I learned SO MUCH about the camper and what attributes we'll ask for next time.The bed was comfortable and the kitchen functioned well. We had three in back. They would not move -> one stuck partially reclined, and their seats backs did not fold down.The challenging part was being able to open and close the side door to get in and out of bed. The door that opens 1st and closes last is the furthest form the bed. The handle that opens that 1st door is closest to the front seat. We couldn't physically reach the door handles from the bed, and couldn't fit in the small space between the seats and the side doors.I had to rig up ropes to open and shut the door from thee bed edge. Red rope tied to the handle that opens the door and the other end looped around the middle back seat's headrest base.I tied the white rope to the door handle that closes the door, so one could reach to close the door when in bed.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Calling this location San Francisco is ludicrous, just call it Milpitas and be clear. In winter a heating pad with 12v connection would help a lot.

The van overall was a great experience. We drove the mesa van. It was reliable, spacious and comfortable. The screen for the backup camera was tiny and often unhelpful when parking in tight spaces, which would be hard for a single traveler. The accessories like the lawn chairs and electric kits aren’t worth it unless you get it complimentary. They have a cabinet of donated items from other campers, which was incredibly helpful and eco-friendly. We would highly recommend to others and will be using them again for future camper van needs.

We had such an incredible experience with escape campervan! We are from Florida and decided to do a 12 day Seattle to San Francisco road trip. I personally researched so many companies offering van rentals but we landed on Escape. Support was so helpful in helping us select our van and add-one. We chose the mesa for its larger size and when we picked up the van and everything was immaculate. They showed us how things worked and within 15 min, we were on our way. We had zero issues with the van. The fridge stayed cool at all times, the bed was easy to put together and take apart. It truly was perfect. We dropped it off in San Francisco at the Milpitas location and the crew there was so cool. Christy checked us out and gave us additional information about promotions coming up. We are definitely booking another trip soon! Also, every location has a donation corner where things that are left over can be taken by new pick ups. I really like this because we were able to get some condiments, dish soap little things that you forget to buy at the store for your trip. We in return also donated a bunch of stuff for the next group of people that were picking up Vans. We saw so many other escape vans during our trip and I will admit that ours had the better art design and looked newer/fresher. So glad for that because I can be picky in that sense. Overall, this trip was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be renting another van for a longer period of time.

Had an absolutely fantastic time over 10 days in my Maverick campervan! They are a perfect size, very well equipped, and offer a great way to explore the US. I found the whole process from booking, pick up and drop off to be breeze. I would absolutely recommend Escape Campervans to all types of road trippers!

Thanks for this life adventure! We traveled with our Maverick for 15 days and drove for 1600 miles through forests and deserts, mountains and valleys… and it didn’t fail us!The equipment was perfect and very useful.The bed is comfortable enough and the portable shower really warm if exposed for enough time.The only little criticism we have regards the check-in and drop off times: you have only limited options and this can affect people coming from the other part of the world by airplane, as well as the plans for returning back from far distances.! For Europeans: it is quite difficult to find a debit card which allows to pay so much money in one charge. We had to use three of them and one credit card. If it would possible to pay directly online would be better, but it is not possible. The staff is really helpful in finding solutions, but we were pretty nervous. And this even if we contacted our banks before saying we needed more “wiggle room” than usual. Some chip cards are also not working. Better Google or Apple Pay.

We picked up in San Francisco. Easy check-in process, we got there earlier than our check-in time and they were able to process us early.We drove up Highway 1 to Redwood NP, then Crater Lake NP then Mt. Rainier NP and ended in Seatle.We had 8 nights in the van. Our rate was for 100 miles a day and we ended with about ~1500 miles total, so we had to pay an additional $236. Worth it in our opinion.The bed set is nice, if you get cold/colder environment you may need another blanket.The kitchen set is good as well, we bought a few more sponges. We could have used another dish towel.We rented the heater and electrical kit but didn't use it. We didn't have any campsites that had outlets (oops).We had no mechanical issues. We would do it again, such a neat idea!

We traveled and camped with a Big Sur van for 4 weeks. It was very comfortable, we could drive to and camp on all the places we wanted to.Escape campervans made us happy campers!

very friendly rental service, communication was always kind and efficient. Paintings of the cars look amazing and make it easy to find on a larger parking ground. We picked up in San Francisco and dropped off in Los Angeles. The location in San Francisco is quite far out, the one in LA is not far from the airport.We chose the Maverick with the additional rooftop tent. It was rather easy to drive and even had acoustic parking assistance in the back. The mirrors are big and provide a quite good overview of the car. I would recommend to close the curtains when driving because you have a better view to your right when changing lanes. The rooftop tent is quite easy to set up but I would say you need two people to take it down since it wasn't that easy to close. The size of the bed inside is quite comfortable even for bigger, and larger people. We had enough space to store our suitcases behind the seats/ on the space between the bed and the kitchen. The only thing I would complain about is the fridge. It didn't close properly and created a quite some heat and even condensation in two shelves which is not ideal for storing food there. It wasn't terrible though, just some inconvenience.We really enjoyed our time on the trip and were really happy about the fun painting we had on the car.

I just spent 3 weeks in a Del Mar with my husband and 3 kids and it was the experience of a lifetime. We picked up in SF and dropped off in Seattle. These vans are so well thought-out and setting up and breaking down was a breeze. Plus we slept so well!!! We are already planning our next adventure.

Absolutely wonderful! Pick up and drop off were super easy. The Bay Area depot has older vans - wish we had picked up in Salt Lake. But that didn’t deter us from having the BEST time. Bed was comfy. Kitchen was equipped.

Rented the Del Mar camper from Escape Camper Vans San Francisco for a week at the beginning of June. From booking to drop-off everything went smoothly.There were 2 adults and 3 kids (5 to 11yrs old) and the Del Mar was perfect. It was spotless, fully kitted out and had plenty of space for the lot of us and all our clothes etc. Very comfortable and would definitely rent it again.Escape were excellent to deal with and their customer service was exceptional - we noticed after booking that they did a special offer for new bookings, I rang and they honoured the new price on our existing booking, saved us a couple of hundred dollars. Special mention to Joseph in the San Fran depot who was a pleasure to deal with.Would highly recommend Escape Camper Vans, and looking forward to the next trip!
