Our Wonder Woman van was awesome! At first look, she seemed surprisingly old and clunky.. but she turned out to be a champ- ran well throughout our trip. The bed with bedding set was super cozy. The kitchen was great- we used the camp stove, fridge and sink. We had to buy #2 filters for the melita-style drip coffee thing. It would be nice if Escape provided a set of those because you can’t make coffee without it.The staff at the Seattle location were super friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely rent again- well worth the price!!

Had a great time exploring Pacific Northwest, Mt Ranier, and a two night concert at The Gorge!Called to see if we could get the van earlier than our check in. They accommodated which was super helpful. The van definitely had a lot of adventures lol! We rolled with it. About halfway through our journey the check engine light came on. Roadside response was very helpful! It was just an O2 sensor. I actually had the same issue with my Honda - still able to travel. The stove wasn’t able to operate safely and they allowed us to buy a new one and reimburse us.Be sure to check out the pantry on-site. We scored a cooler, some condiments, paper towels to use (and returned as we flew and couldn’t take it)They are rotating in newer models…we had an older one but it worked out fine!

We absolutely loved renting the Big Sur camper van from Escape Camper Vans. We actually rented the Maverick (a little smaller) but they upgraded us for free to the next biggest size. This is a really great way to travel and I’ll definitely be doing it again! The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because unlike most rental companies they charge you for how many miles you drive and that can really rack up the price. Since we did a roadtrip from Seattle to LA we paid upfront for 800 miles and the remainder 1000+ miles cost us another $550. Probably spent around $1000 in miles while also having to pay for gas and the rental itself. I think the mileage charge is a little crazy but we are still happy we had the experience!

Fantastic experience! The campervan was absolutely wonderful. Everything we could have needed for a week long trip. The staff was also great to work with, too! Highly recommend.

We had a great week with our van and we made it through the week with no major issues. The people we dealt with were all really helpful and nice. The van exterior was in rough shape (because I got the full coverage?), the brakes squeaked, the suspension was bouncy and squeaky, the tires wouldn't pass the penny tread test and the steering wheel had a few inches of play in each direction. While the van itself we had was old (had a sticker for over 300,000 miles and a 2008) the camping portion worked well. The electrical system was good, the fridge kept stuff cold, and the air conditioning worked. We saw other Escape renters with much nicer and newer vans, so maybe our van was the exception rather than the norm.

Escape Camper Vans is an amazing company. From the beginning, I was extremely impressed by the woman who checked out the van to me. I wish I knew her name to give her a shoutout here. She was knowledgeable about the vans , insurance, operations, toll roads, etc. The vehicle was super easy to drive. It handles like a car and has great pickup for getting over the passes. Lots of storage space; kitchen set up is a dream. Cooler drawer kept things very cold for two nights. Bed was really comfortable. We rented a popup tent because there were 4 of us and that also had a really comfortable mattress. It was surprisingly spacious for 2 average sized women. I felt like I was glamping . A really tall person might have felt cramped but it worked great for us. The only design flaw was that the dashboard lights did not go off automatically or they were on an extremely long timer. I was so worried about draining the battery and Googled how to turn them off by using the inside door lock. That worked but very impractical. Checking back in was also very easy and again, the guy who checked us in was also really knowledgeable and super friendly. I hated to give the van up. Another bonus was that the paint job on our “Flower girl” made everyone smile. Lots of thumbs up from drivers on the road and from fellow campers. I would definitely use this company again.

The typical mileage fee for camper rentals is $0.30-0.40 cents per mile you drive. Washington also commonly ranks in the top 10 states with the highest gas prices. Prices on camper van rentals may vary depending on demand and availability. So, camper rentals and other travel expenses commonly increase during that time.

How old do you have to be to rent a camper in Washington?

You must be at least 21 years old to rent a camper van from Escape Camper Vans in Washington. Many other companies in the area require you to be at least 25 to rent a camper or RV, making younger drivers feel more limited in their options. So, to ensure rentals are profitable for companies and limit liability, age minimums need to be set.
